Katherine Talley hails from Tucson, Arizona, and Fairford, England, where she first began singing professionally at the age of nine. Her versatile five-octave voice has paved the way for her to perform in various venues throughout the United States and Europe. Her ability to switch from coloratura to belting in styles such as Opera, Music Theatre, R & B, Gospel, Jazz, Pop and Country have allowed her to share the stage with great artists and musicians such as Doc Severinson, Daniel Roumaine, and Alice Cooper.
Ms. Talley received her Bachelor of Musical Arts degree from Arizona State University and began working towards a masters degree in Vocal Performance. While in Arizona, Ms. Talley performed in numerous plays, operas, operettas, oratorios and musicals, her most memorable being “Die Zauberflote”, “Suor Angelica”, The “Seven Last Words of Christ”, “Bye-Bye Birdie”, “Little Shop of Horrors” and the Gilbert and Sullivan favorite, “H.M.S. Pinafore.” She also was a member, arranger and choreographer of a women's a capella pop group, The Pitchforks. Ms.Talley can be heard on the album, Voices from Spoon River, available on the Summit Records label and can be heard singing background vocals on several other albums, including Playground, The Generosity Water Project and With God. Most recently, Katherine performed as the soprano soloist in Robert Ray's "Gospel Mass" and worked with Opera Pasadena performing as Papagena in Mozart's “The Magic Flute” and "Hansel and Gretel" composed by Engelbert Humperdinck. While living in Los Angeles, Ms. Talley focused on session singing and recording for demo songs, commercials and movies, as well as background vocals for pop and gospel artists. She also worked to expand her artistry to include more songwriting and arranging, as well as giving voice lessons and musical coaching. She also continued to sing in operas, recitals and semi-professional choral groups. Ms. Talley loves speaking in different languages, especially German and has mastered several different dialects, as well as cartoon and recognizable character voices. Her journalism and public speaking skills have afforded her opportunities to write for many publications and conduct seminars -- including being a panelist at Gallifrey One, the Doctor Who Convention, in Los Angeles. Ms. Talley also enjoys reading, volleyball, horseback riding, dancing, volunteering, improvisation, and researching to gain knowledge of little-known facts to answer questions on Jeopardy. Ms. Talley currently resides in Arizona, where she returned to get a Master's Degree in Elementary Education at Arizona State University. She now enjoys teaching 5th grade in the Paradise Valley District, and conducting two children's choirs and one youth choir at Pinnacle Presbyterian Church.
